Reflections: How are you Showing up in the World

Feb 21, 2021

Is the world a reflection of ourselves? I had the fortunate experience of connecting with so many beautiful souls this past week. Some were new, some I speak to all the time, and some were people I haven’t spoken with in forever.

People always talk about how awful people are. If this were true, how is it that I am able to have so many beautiful interactions?

Is it that I see the best in people, trusting that at our core everyone is and wants to be a good person? Is it that I showed up full of joy, connection, and love. And they merely reflected this back to me?

New York Reflections

One of the reasons I love New York is because you get what you give. For instance, if you leave your house in a terrible mood, you seem to be surrounded terrible people. Or if you feel happy and open, you often have the most amazing interactions. I believe this is due to millions of people, giving ample opportunity to reflect back at us what we put out.

If what we see in others is truly a reflection of ourselves, then every interaction is an opportunity to check in with how we are showing up.

Are THEY avoidant and stand-offish? Are THEY full of joy and connected? Are THEY miserable and angry? Are YOU?

I challenge you to revisit the interactions you hated. And be honest about what you felt, and thought at the time. Did the way you were treated mirror your feelings and thoughts?

Of course like anything, there are exceptions. But you will find in most cases, how your day and interactions go depend a lot on how you show up.

One last question:

Take a look at this broken mirror photo of me-really look at it.

Do you think if I showed up like this to my meetings last week my interactions would have been as connecting and beautiful?

How about if I showed up to a job interview that way? Do you think I would have gotten the job?

What do you see in yourself when you look at your reflection?

Are you reflecting what you want to experience? Do you want to shift that? Schedule an initial conversation to see if I can help.
